ICYMI Sara Rosenbaum, Marybeth Musumeci,Tim Jost, and Alexander Somodevilla last week analyzed the Supreme Court’s decision in Health and Hospital Corporation of Marion County v. Talevski preserving the right of Medicaid beneficiaries and providers to challenge state actions in court.
Social Need Resource Navigation
The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation’s Accountable Health Communities (AHC) Model, launched in 2017, connects eligible Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries with community services to address health-related social needs.
They conclude that beneficiaries who received navigation assistance had lower rates of emergency department (ED) visits than those in the control group, but the effects of receiving navigation assistance on other outcomes were not statistically significant.
Parish and coauthors’ findings suggest that while the AHC Model had some intended effects, it did not have "statistically significant impact on total medical expenditures or other utilization outcomes."
