I’m about to ask you for $15 to help ban assault weapons for good. But first, I hope you’ll let me explain why. >>
I’m a survivor of the Pulse Nightclub shooting in Florida.
June 12th, 7 years ago, my life changed forever when my best friends Drew Leinonen and Juan Guerrero, and 47 others were murdered.
Some of my memories from that night are lost behind a traumatic fog, but others are crystal clear.
I remember dancing, Juan’s goofy laugh, and Drew’s arm around me.
I remember hearing every single one of the 110 rounds the gunman pumped into the club to kill LGBTQ people like me.
I remember being glued to the television, waiting to see if my best friends survived the attack.
I remember the heartbreak of their parents when they learned their children didn’t make it.
But the sad truth is: my story isn’t unique.
I’m not the first person who has had loved ones stolen in a shooting fueled by hate. There are people just like me in Charleston, Pittsburgh, San Diego, El Paso, Buffalo, Colorado Springs and so many more.
49 people died that night because of a gunman with an assault weapon – but Leader Schumer and Speaker McCarthy are more worried about playing politics than making sure a catastrophe like this never happens again.
I’m determined to honor my best friends and all the victims’ legacies with action. That’s why I’m working with BAWN to ELECT gun safety champions and finally ban assault weapons. But we need your help. We need 950 more gifts in the next 9 hours to hit our goal, support candidates who are dedicated to preventing another tragedy like the Pulse shooting, and honor the 49 stolen from us on June 12, 2016, with action. Can I count on you to chip in $15 now? >>
My friends at BAWN have been holding a sit-in at the US Capitol this past week.
Countless survivors and loved ones of victims have come together like never before to demand a vote on the assault weapons ban in Congress.
And today, they are honoring the 49 lives stolen from us in the Pulse Nightclub massacre seven years ago.
I couldn’t be more proud to join their fight to ban assault weapons.
We need you to join the fight too. BAWN needs help raising 950 gifts before midnight to fuel their efforts to finally ban assault weapons and replace any lawmaker who stands in their way. So, I’m personally asking: Will you rush $15 now to help us continue the fight for a federal assault weapons ban and elect candidates who have the guts to do what’s right? It would mean so much to me to have your support. >>
Thank you,
Brandon Wolf
