Hey, John. Before I co-founded Run for Something, I worked for Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign. I was her email director. (I like to joke: Not those emails. The other ones – like the one you’re reading!)
It was hard to watch Hillary concede to Donald Trump, but something she said then has stuck with me: “To young people in particular – you will have successes and setbacks. This loss hurts. But please never stop believing that fighting for what’s right is worth it.”
And that’s why we started Run for Something – to give young, diverse progressives the tools they need to run successful campaigns and fight the attacks on our democracy and freedoms that Secretary Clinton and so many others warned us about.
A lot of people still talk about Donald Trump. (As they should: He’s the leader of the Republican Party!)
But the extremism of the Republican Party is bigger than just him. It’s in Missouri, where they’re trying to ban books and defund the public library system. It’s in Texas and Florida where they’re attacking trans people. It’s in the dozens of states that swiftly passed near or total abortion bans.
Young, diverse progressives are fighting that extremism every single day. On school boards, on city councils, in state legislatures and beyond – young, progressive Democrats are the ones fighting and stopping the very worst of Donald Trump’s Republican Party.
I’m deeply appreciative of your support, John. Thanks to your help, we’re building the next generation of bold leadership – now and for the future.
