SALON: Legal scholar: Redistricting ruling suggests SCOTUS “wrongly gave Republicans control of the House”

Team, this is huge. In a surprise ruling, the Supreme Court voted in favor of voting rights, striking down a redrawn congressional map that deliberately marginalized the power of Black voters in Alabama. Here are two things we know:

This ruling will impact similar cases across the country, including in Louisiana, Georgia, and possibly even Texas — forcing states to redraw their unfair maps.

These changes will empower voters of color and help Democrats retake the House majority across the country.
It's clear that unfair maps have played an enormous role in silencing the voices of the many for the interests of the few. That's why Ohio Democrats are fighting back, and we can't do it without your support, team.

Ohio will once again be drawing new maps this year after politicians snuck through Republican-rigged maps last cycle. We need to be ready to fight with everything we have to make sure Ohioans are fairly represented at the statehouse and in Congress.
