Would you like to go to the Republican Party National Convention to see President Trump receive the Republican nomination? If so, it all begins at the Precinct Convention on Election Day. You must either attend the Precinct Convention at the close of elections on March 3, 2020 at 7:00pm, or call your Precinct Chairman and tell them you cannot attend the Precinct Convention, but would like to submit your name to be a delegate. Then, on March 21, 2020 you must attend your Senatorial District County Convention to see if you can be a delegate to the Republican State Convention in Houston in May. It is there that the Party will decide who gets to go to Republican National Convention, but it all begins at the precinct level. Please call headquarters at 210-824-9445 to find out who your is your precinct chairman if you don't know him or her.

President Trump Acquitted

President Trump was acquitted of both articles of impeachment: abuse of power and that he obstructed Congress. Senators voted 52 to 48 to acquit him on the abuse-of-power allegation, and 53 to 47 to clear him of obstruction. “The outcome represented a political triumph for the White House and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY.)” 1 Senator Mitt Romney (UT) was the only senator that voted to convict on abuse of power. He becomes the first and only senator that voted to convict a member in his own Party in U.S. history. It sounds like sour grapes to me.

President Trump’s State of the Union Address

“In what is being called one of the most pro-life, pro-family State of the Union speeches delivered by a modern president, President Donald Trump boldly reaffirmed his commitment to protecting life and religious freedom on Tuesday evening in a joint session of Congress…. President Trump also highlighted the significant work his administration has done to protect religious freedom, including protecting the Constitutional right to pray in public schools.2 ...the federal and Supreme Court Justices he confirmed, Salamani, the terrorist leaders killed, and the new trade deals he signed.

After President Trump made his speech, #NoClassNancy! tore her historical copy of the President’s speech in front of the cameras. When questioned afterwards, she said, “It was the courteous thing to do.” How can someone who is third in command of our nation act like a rude and disrespectful child? Thankfully, Rep. Congressman Matt Gaetz (FL) has filed an ethics complaint against her.

President Trump Takes On Human Trafficking

President Trump signed an executive order expanding his domestic policy office with a new position solely focused on combating human trafficking… "My administration is putting unprecedented pressure on traffickers at home and abroad…we have signed more legislation on human trafficking than any other administration has ever even thought about."3
He said the main portal being used to traffic victims is the Internet. Consequently, he has shut down many websites because of that, authorized $400M to fight the issue, and is calling for an additional $4M increase to investigate and prosecute human trafficking.

FBI Links San Angelo Kickback Scheme to SA Officeholders
“The arrest of the former San Angelo police chief has sent shockwaves to San Antonio, as the communications company at the center of that federal indictment currently holds the public-safety radio contracts for both the City of San Antonio and Bexar County… Dailey and Wells Communications, which is San Antonio based, currently holds the public-safety radio contracts for the City of San Antonio and Bexar County.
… Campaign finance records show…Rebecca Viagran: $1,000, District 4 Councilwoman Adriana Rocha Garcia: $1,000, Former District 4 Councilman Rey Saldana: $1,000, District 5 Councilwoman Shirley Gonzales: $500, District 7 Councilwoman Ana Sandoval: $1,000, District 8 Councilman Manny Pelaez: $1,000, District 9 Councilman John Courage: $1,000, and District 10 Councilman Clayton Perry: $1,000. On the County level Judge Nelson Wolff: $1,000, Precinct 1 Commissioner Sergio “Chico” Rodriguez: $10,000, Precinct 3 Commissioner Kevin Wolff: $20,000, Candidate for Precinct 3 Commissioner Trish DeBerry: $10,000, Precinct 4 Commissioner Tommy Calvert: $20,000.30, District Attorney Joe Gonzales: $5,000, Sheriff Javier Salazar: $45,000. The late Precinct 2 Commissioner Paul Elizondo was given $5,000 by the Wells', campaign finance records show.” 3
These elected officials know there are ethics that govern contributions. Bexar County is the only county in Texas that reports their contributions locally while every other County Commissioner in Texas reports to the Texas Ethics Commission for oversite. Only time will tell exactly what the fallout will be from this situation, but from where I am sitting, it doesn’t look very promising for Bexar County officials.

Governor Abbott Says No to Refugees

Governor Abbott announced that no more refugees would be accepted in the State. This was a result of an executive order President Trump issued that gave states the power to opt out of the federal system of resettling refugees. “…Abbott noted that Texas has “carried more than its fair share" 4 in helping with the refugee resettlement and recommended other states “help with these efforts.”

This is not the first time Abbott has said no to refugees. Back in 2015, the governor said Texas would not accept Syrian refugees because of terrorist concerns after the Paris Terrorist attacks. In 2016, the governor withdrew Texas from the federal refugee resettlement program. For the 2020 fiscal year, Trump has slashed the number of accepted refugees down to 18,000 people. Reactions were predictable from liberals, parroting the usual clichés in the Houston Chronicle, San Antonio Express News and the Dallas Morning News criticizing Abbott.

Judicial Watch Takes on Illegal Voters
“Judicial Watch announced it is continuing its efforts to force states and counties across the nation to comply with the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (NVRA), by sending notice-of-violation letters to 19 large counties in five states that it intends to sue unless the jurisdictions take steps to comply with the law and remove ineligible voter registrations within 90 days. Section 8 of the National Voter Registration Act requires jurisdictions to take reasonable efforts to remove ineligible registrations from its rolls.”5

You may recall last year when former director of the Secretary of State David Whitley found 95,000 questionable voters in Texas—of that, Bexar County had 5,000 questionable voters. To date, Bexar County Elections has not acted on cleaning up the voter rolls locally.

Bexar Facts?

A new nonprofit, nonpartisan Bexar Facts (created by Democratic strategist, Christian Archer) has formed a joint venture with the Rivard Report and KSAT News. Bexar Facts will poll voters in Bexar County to find out what voters think about how the city or county are doing along with important issues. The idea is to provide elected officials with feedback. It will “seek to accurately gauge voter sentiment on issues of importance and interest, especially those that will find their way to the ballot this year in the May and November elections.” 6

The first poll is due out February 11, 2020. It will be published in the Rivard Report and on KSAT News “…Phone calls were placed to 600 likely voters”7
across Bexar County. My concern is if they are polling voters, who decides who gets called? How are voters going to be assured this will be nonpartisan? We already know that the three partners are liberals, so why should voters trust the results?

Texas Historical Commission Puts a Temporary Halt in Moving Cenotaph

The Texas Historical Commission (THC) tapped the brakes on a key piece of the $450 million Alamo renovation project…saying commissioners want more information on alternative locations for the 1930s Cenotaph if it’s moved, and how long its restoration work on the monument will take. [The THC] delayed a vote on relocating the 58-foot-tall Cenotaph until its March 24th meeting. Opponents of moving the Cenotaph say placing it outside the area once encircled by the fort’s walls would be an affront to the memory of the defenders...”

If you feel strongly about not moving the Cenotaph, please be sure to attend the meeting on March 24. The time and location will be posted on the Republican Party of Bexar County Facebook Page and in this newsletter when the information is made available.

Bexar County Needs a New Sherriff in Town

Under the stewardship of Bexar County's Democrat Sheriff Javier Salazar, Bexar County jail experienced an unprecedented number of erroneous releases in 2019 averaging one per month and making it into the national news. His leadership has been an abysmal failure.

We have three Republicans running for sheriff in March. They are, in alphabetical order: Gary Garcia, Willie Ng, and Gerry Rickhoff. Choose carefully, go to their websites, do your research, and see who you think would be best to lead Bexar County because we seriously need a new sheriff in town.

Chairman’s Commentary

As I look back over the last two years, I am seeing change is coming. Not only do I see it, but the voters see it as well. I talked to Jo Gonzales who said she feels the change is coming, and it is coming quickly. We have been receiving calls at headquarters from former Democrats that tell me they are fed up with the Democratic Party. Some demand I make them swear to an oath because that is how serious they are about changing. Some Democrat's and Independent's alike volunteer at some capacity. They tell me they see how President Trump is being treated and they want no part of a Party like that anymore. Others call in and tell me they fear how their children will survive if the Democrats turn this country turns socialistic . They want America to remain free. They want their children to enjoy what we have known growing up in America. They don’t want the Constitution to be tampered with—not even over gun rights. Then others call in and say, I never knew I was a Republican, but I had been
voting Democrat all my life.

I have a grassroots activist, Gigi Hughes who lives on the east side of San Antonio, she tells me the Black community is singing President Trump’s praises and they are flipping! This comes as no surprise to me, President Trump has done more for Americans across the board than any other president in 50 years, In his State of the Union address he said Americans are enjoying a 16% increase in wages. Results are what matters, and this is what our country is seeing, enjoying, and what we needed- an economic boost.

All of this is backed up by the staggering numbers in the stock market growth, the numbers of low unemployment, the number of businesses coming back to America, and most of all the number of Democrat and Independent attendees at the Trump rallies. When President Trump held a rally in Dallas, 50% of them were Democrats, in Wisconsin 57.8% identified as Democrats or Independents, and in Ohio, 43% of attendees were Democrats.

What does all this mean? I believe it means that President Trump will be reelected by historic proportions. I believe it will be a landslide victory for him, and all Republicans from president on down the ballot in every office with an R by their name will reap the reward. I believe we will take back the House. 2020 is off and running and we are at the gate to an incredible year. Thank you, Mr. President! See you at the polls! #Trump2020!

Cynthia Brehm
