The greatest threat to our future is climate change.

And if you stepped outside your home in New York this past week, you probably felt the impact of the environmental crisis.

Record-breaking air-quality warnings were issued across our state as a result of the smoke from wildfires in Canada — fires exacerbated by climate change.

We can’t afford to sit back and let this crisis continue. Kids should be outside playing and going to baseball games. Our neighbors should be attending barbecues and picnics. This is unacceptable.

Clean air and water shouldn’t be a luxury. They are a fundamental right — a right we are squandering away by failing to take action.
