Hello Friends,
Today we remember and honor the lives of forty-nine LGBTQIA+ people and allies who were killed in the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando.
It was the deadliest act of violence against the LGBTQIA+ community this country has ever seen and one of the worst mass killings in American history.
Sons and daughters, fathers and mothers, sisters and brothers, friends and colleagues — loved and forever missed by so many.
Seven years later, Orlando is still trying to put the pieces back together, formalize a memorial, and cope with immeasurable loss.
We have more questions than answers, but as time goes on, we refuse to become numb to the gun violence and hate that has seeped its way into the fabric of our everyday lives.
We cannot change the world from a place of numbness. Instead, we choose to honor the lives lost and their stories. We choose to link arms and hold one another up so we can keep pushing forward.
We think of the victims and their families, and of the world we want to create for our children: where everyone is valued for who they are and who they love, where people feel safe to gather in public and in schools, where our leaders fight for safety and equality for all.
