Dear Friend,
No one should ever have to go hungry. But far too many of our neighbors in the U.S. and around the world struggle to put food on the table. Some communities have no access to fresh, healthy options—while elsewhere, food goes to waste.
Meanwhile, climate change is a hunger multiplier around the world. Extreme weather ruins harvests and threatens supply chains. Yet the U.S. relies on industrial agriculture, which is a huge contributor to greenhouse gas emissions.
Thankfully, we have an opportunity to change course. This year, Congress will authorize the Farm Bill—a package of legislation passed every five years. The Farm Bill determines what food is grown in the U.S., how it’s grown, and how affordable it is. It also determines international food aid.
AFSC is joining with Daily Kos and interfaith partners to urge Congress to pass a Farm Bill that works for all people. Will you add your name?
A “Farm Bill for all” could ensure a future where all people have reliable access to healthy food. And it could prioritize sustainable farming practices, and dignified treatment for those who work the land.
We’re calling on lawmakers to:
- Expand access to vital food assistance programs.
- Invest in climate-friendly practices, from planting to packaging to delivery.
- Make sure all communities have access to fresh food.
- Protect the rights of farmworkers.
Please join us today – sign our petition with Daily Kos and call on Congress to pass a Farm Bill that works for people and the planet!
