Why we are 350: Scientists overwhelmingly agree that 350ppm CO2 is the upper limit to sustain life as humans have lived it. For 800,000+ years atmospheric CO2 varied between roughly 180 to 280ppm ([link removed]) (graphic).

From Antonio Butts, Executive Director, Walnut Way Conservation Corp.:

This is an update on the progress made in the 2022 We Energies rate case and what's at stake today. Your continued support and engagement are crucial as we enter a new phase of our collective work that will have a substantial economic impact on Milwaukee.

Our collective efforts have demonstrated that there are existing issues with policies and systems within We Energies, which create income barriers and make energy affordability impossible for some individuals and families in Milwaukee.

As a result of the final order from the 2022 We Energies rate case, two legal dockets are now open with the Wisconsin Public Service Commission:
1. An order to create a Percentage of Income Payment Program (PIPP) for Public Service Commission approval in 2023. Gas & Electric bill payments based on income, not usage.
2. An examination of We Energies' Low-Income Forgiveness Tool, also known as the LIFT program, to remove its punitive components, policies that are counter to energy affordability.

Be aware! The Percentage of Income Payment Program will have a significant impact on Milwaukee families, potentially resulting in as much as $50 million per year going towards energy affordability for those who need it the most. There are over 60,000 We Energies customers in Milwaukee who will qualify for this program from every race, culture, class and ethnicity.

*This is a win for all of Milwaukee, some may argue it is as consequential as the "Shared Revenue" issue.

Fridays from 12:00 - 1:00 pm
Chase & Wells Fargo Banks
Many banks (including Chase and Wells Fargo) are lending their depositor's money to fossil fuel companies to develop new fossil fuel production.

We want more people to be aware of this and hopefully change their bank or talk to the bank management!

We get honks and thumbs up from drivers and passersby. Some people stop and have a chat about what the banks are doing, or ask, "What is fossil fuel ([link removed]) ?"

We're alternating between two Chase Bank locations.
Chase Bank Calendar:
* Friday June 16 - Wisconsin Ave. & Water St. ([link removed])
* Friday June 23 - Silver Spring Dr. & Lydell Ave. ([link removed])

Walk the Line - June 17/18

Join us on the weekend of June 17-18 to walk part of Enbridge's proposed expansion of the Line 5 pipeline, learn what's put at risk by the proposal, practice identifying endangered species, and meet others who are concerned! The weekend of events will take place in various parts of Ashland County.

Spring flooding and erosion has highlighted the risk that Enbridge's Line 5 poses to the Bad River, the watershed, and the region as a whole. A spill would be devastating, and a reroute wouldn't solve any of the issues the pipeline brings with it -- threatening Tribal sovereignty, threatening the climate, and threatening Lake Superior and local waterways.

Seeing the waters, woods, wildlife and more that are put at risk by this oil pipeline hammers home how important it is to shut it down. This weekend ([link removed]) is a great way to see what we're fighting for! There are lots of activities planned, including:
* A short training on identifying endangered species put at risk by Line 5
* Conversations around how to organize locally against Line 5
* A potluck
* A pancake breakfast
* A hike at Copper Falls State Park

Date: June 17th - 18th
Location: Northern Wisconsin, various locations
Lodging: We have several campsites reserved at Day Lake
Travel: We're coordinating carpools, where there's enough interest
