There is something that's been weighing heavy on our hearts here at SisterLove - it's about the development of 'Cop City', officially known as the Atlanta Public Safety Training Center.
Atlanta is our home, a place with vibrant communities and a rich history of civil rights activisism. Atlanta is the birthplace of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Now, his home and living legacy are threatened by the shadow of the expanding militarization of police and normalization of police violence.
Cop City would do nothing but add more fear, repression, and division to our city.
We stand firmly against this $67 million dollar monument to the belief that our communities are not worth saving. Our statement against Cop City goes into more detail about our position. Read our statement here.
But this crisis will not be prevented with only words - it requires action.
We've started a petition to halt the development of 'Cop City'. It's our way of saying "enough is enough". And we need your voice to make it louder.
Sign the petition here.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and for standing with us. Together, we can protect our city and our communities.
