The Chamber is excited to provide a new opportunity for young professionals in the area with the Arlington Chamber Young Professionals Series! This series cultivates the next generation of business leaders by bringing together Arlington young professionals to learn more about Arlington and engage with the larger business community.

This month focuses on advocacy and features the Arlington Chamber of Commerce's Government Affairs Manager, John Musso, Vice President at the Apartment and Office Building Association of Metropolitan Washington (AOBA) and Vice-Chair for Business Advocacy for the Arlington Chamber, Bismah Ahmed, and Aide to Arlington County Board Chair, Stevie Kelly.

Rich Doud Arlington Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Recipients Announced



The Arlington Chamber of Commerce is proud to support high school seniors Ambar Condori-Boughton from Duke Ellington School of the Arts who will be attending the University of Miami, and Anna Julia Giza from Bishop Ireton High School who will be attending Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, for demonstrating student and community leadership.

Both high school seniors were 2023 recipients of The Rich Doud Arlington Chamber of Commerce Scholarship, named after longtime Arlington Chamber of Commerce president and civic leader Rich Doud, and distributed by the Arlington Community Foundation.

County Board Candidate Forum Recap

On Thursday, June 8, the Arlington Chamber of Commerce hosted its 2023 Arlington County Board Candidate Forum at Mason Square - Van Metre Hall in Ballston.

The seven candidates running for the Arlington County Board: Audrey Clement (I), Maureen Coffey (D), Susan Cunningham (D), Jonathan Dromgoole (D), Natalie Roy (D), Julius "J.D." Spain Sr. (D), and Tony Weaver (D), participated in the business-themed candidate forum which featured a moderated discussion of topics such as Plan Langston Boulevard, office vacancy, and small business support.

The Candidate Forum was live-streamed on WJLA.com Thursday evening and broadcasted on WJLA-TV 24/7 Friday evening.

Chamber Supports New Phase of Commercial Market Resiliency

The Arlington Chamber continues to champion updates to the Zoning Code, and commends the County for the continued expanded by-right uses as part of the Commercial Market Resiliency Initiative.

On June 10, the County Board adopted amendments to the Zoning Ordinance to permit ghost kitchens, restaurant direct meal delivery, shared commercial kitchens and large-scale catering establishments. . These were the newest phase of the Commercial Market Resiliency Initiative. The Chamber expressed in a letter to the Board its appreciation to County Staff for developing flexible regulations that promote the attraction of new and emerging business sectors. We appreciate this step forward, and we encourage continued work beyond the proposed amendments that provides for innovation.
