John:
We’re going to be transparent right now: tonight was not the night we hoped for in New Hampshire — but it's also important to be 100% real about where we stand as of this moment in this race.
Together, New Hampshire and Iowa represent less than 2% of the pledged delegates at stake in this campaign. That leaves 98% of this race left to go. And the two states that have already voted are nowhere close to demographically representative of either the Democratic electorate or the country.
Despite what the pundits might say on cable TV tonight, there is still a LONG way to go in this election. Nevada votes in just 11 days, and one-third of the nation will vote on Super Tuesday three weeks from today.
Elizabeth Warren’s campaign is built to compete everywhere — state-by-state, delegate-by-delegate. She consistently polls as one of the top second choices for supporters of other candidates. This race has already proven to be one of the most unpredictable ever. And what's more: Elizabeth has proven the doubters wrong before.
As she said on the trail earlier today:
“I’ve been counted down and out for much of my life. But Mitch McConnell had it right: Nevertheless, she persisted… I cannot say to all those little girls: this got hard and I quit.”
