The Haitian Bridge Alliance has stepped in to provide food, water, shelter, and legal education to Black asylum seekers living in unsafe conditions at the border in Mexico and to support immigrants once they arrive in America.

Friend,

This Black History Month, we’re honoring the legacy of Black leaders and activists throughout history who have dedicated their lives to addressing the disparate and discriminatory ways Black people in particular are harmed by the U.S. immigration and criminal justice systems.

This week, we want to highlight our friends at the Haitian Bridge Alliance, an organization dedicated to continuing that legacy.

Since the United States has made deeply harmful efforts to essentially eliminate the asylum system over the past few years, the Haitian Bridge Alliance, aka “the Bridge,” has been working tirelessly to provide food, water, shelter, and legal education for Black immigrants and asylum seekers on the border. Additionally, the Haitian Bridge Alliance works to help immigrants succeed and build self-sufficient communities when they settle in the U.S.

The Haitian Bridge Alliance is working to fulfill critical needs in a time of deep crisis for Black immigrants and asylum seekers from Haiti and countries in Africa. Can you step up to help those in need and ensure the Bridge has what it needs to continue its vital work today?

Right now, Black asylum seekers are being denied their legal right to seek safe asylum — traveling thousands of miles after fleeing violence, poverty, and persecution, only to find themselves stranded on the U.S.-Mexican border, often forced to live in dangerous and inhumane conditions. Your funds could be used to help support urgently needed bond payments for people being held during their asylum hearings.

Additionally, Black immigrants face a host of difficult challenges once they settle in the United States. The Haitian Bridge Alliance provides critical support to help ease their transition and ensure these new immigrants have the tools they need to succeed.

Through their work, the Haitian Bridge Alliance carries on the legacy of all those who have worked to address the countless ways Black people have been disproportionately harmed by the unjust immigration and criminal justice systems in the United States. Even a small donation will go a long way to provide support for people in need.

Support Black immigrant families today by contributing $5 to the Haitian Bridge Alliance’s fund.

Together, we can ensure the Haitian Bridge Alliance can continue this necessary work, not just throughout February but every day of the year.

Thank you for your continued support,

Todd Schulte
