Members of the Republican Party whose campaigns get a lot of their funding from big polluters are preventing climate change legislation from passing.
Meanwhile, the East Coast has been blanketed by a dangerous cloud of wildfire smoke. And insurance giants are pulling out of California’s home insurance marketplace because of increasing wildfire risk driven by climate change.
California isn’t an anomaly. In many places across the country, insurance premiums are on the rise because of more frequent and severe natural disasters — pushing homeownership out of reach for middle-class families.
I have been sounding the alarm about this looming disaster for a long time, and the window to head it off is narrowing. So I’m asking: Can you contribute today to support my work to take down the fossil fuel political apparatus and get its dark money out of our government? It’s the only way we’ll be able to solve climate change before the damage becomes catastrophic.
