It's high time we end caucuses.

They're exclusionary and antithetical to the inclusive democracy our Democratic Party has been trying to build for years.

For parents of young children, or people who don't work typical 9-5 jobs, or deployed military, or even just folks who can't make it during that EXACT window to caucus, caucuses exclude them or -- at the very least -- make it very difficult for them to participate. That is not what democracy looks like.

That's why Washington state decided to end caucuses for good last year. And that's why it's time for more states to follow.

I'm calling for an end to caucuses during our primary process because if we're going to build the kind of big tent party that can take on big issues like climate change, we need everyone to be able to participate. And caucuses just can't do that. Add your name to join me in calling on the DNC to end them now.

In Washington state, we saw that caucuses were inherently inaccessible for working folks and parents, and that was keeping participation down.

Plus, when we held a primary and a caucus in 2016, we saw three times as many people participate in the primary than the caucus -- and this year, we expect participation to be even higher with only a primary.

Our Democratic leadership in Washington state took notice and listened to citizens and their concerns, which is why we made this change that opened up voting to so many more people. That's what real leadership does, and I hope the DNC does the same.

Look, if we want to take climate action, if we want to see honest progress on gun safety, if we want to build an economy that works for working people, it has to start with a democracy that is inclusive, welcoming, and representative.
