Dear MoveOn member,
As MAGA Republican politicians intensify their attacks on the rights, freedom, and humanity of LGBTQ+ people, and particularly trans youth, MoveOn is releasing today a brand-new sticker commemorating two revolutionary drag queens, trans activists, and trailblazers of color in the movement for queer liberation: Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera.
In the summer of 1969, Johnson and Rivera led uprisings at the Stonewall Inn, after police brutally raided the bar as part of a pattern of police attempts to shut down establishments that welcomed LGBTQ+ people.1
On the one-year anniversary of the Stonewall uprising, the first Pride parades in U.S. history took place across the country—from Los Angeles and San Francisco to Chicago and New York.
This Pride Month, MoveOn has printed a huge batch of these "Pride Has a Story" stickers, and we're giving them away for FREE—while supplies last!
Just click here or on the image below to get your free sticker.
Johnson and Rivera worked tirelessly on behalf of LGBTQ+ youth, opening the nation's first-ever shelter for homeless trans youth and advocating on behalf of individuals living with HIV/AIDS.2,3 They were the first trans women of color to lead an organization in the United States.4
Their activism, incredible courage, and lifelong commitment to fighting oppression changed the course of history.
Today, 54 years after the Stonewall uprising and amid Republican efforts to terrorize trans youth and roll back so many years of progress, it's so important that we commemorate the history of Pride, honor early LGBTQ+ leaders like Johnson and Rivera, and recommit ourselves to the fight for equity and justice.
Queer artist Agnes Barton-Sabo (aka Betty Turbo) created our new sticker, and we're excited to give it away for free, while supplies last!
Thanks for all you do.
–Kelly, Elizabeth, Emily, Oscar, and the rest of the team

Want to support MoveOn's work? Book bans have skyrocketed thanks to right-wing state laws which have forced teachers to remove books from their classrooms. In response, MoveOn is launching a "Banned Bookmobile," filling it with books that the far right has banned, and driving it around to hand out those books, for free, in highly trafficked areas that will attract media attention. To keep the Banned Bookmobile up and running into 2024, we need your help.
