John,
Good afternoon and welcome to our Weekend
Update.
Before we begin, I want to address the
continued targeting of former President Donald Trump by the Biden
administration and the Justice Department. From the very onset of his
presidential campaign, the Justice Department has unfairly targeted
Donald Trump. And time and time again, we have seen allegations amount
to nothing more than nonsense claims proven to be false – beginning
with the Russian Collusion Hoax, which a special counsel has now
concluded was politically motivated.
The double standard the justice system
has applied to President Trump is evident, and rogue prosecutors like
Alvin Bragg and others continue coming after him to get their own
names in the paper. Joe Biden kept classified documents for decades,
and the enormous evidence of foreign payoffs is mounting – yet he goes
uncharged. Why? Because Joe Biden has a “D” next to his name and
Donald Trump has an “R.” This is the United States – not a third-world
country. We cannot use the power of the federal government to arrest
political opponents, which is what Biden has done in seemingly
weaponizing the DOJ against his leading competitor for the presidency.
It is a sad day in America, and we cannot allow tyranny like this to
reign. I stand with President Trump against the blatant abuse of
power. Such an injustice should never be perpetrated in the United
States.
Last week, we passed the Fiscal
Responsibility Act of 2023. It was not perfect, and we have a
tremendous amount of work left to do to address our nation's spending
issues, but it was a step in the right direction. I joined Newsmax
TV's "Wake Up America" to discuss some of the fallout of the
debate surrounding the debt ceiling and our path forward working
together as a unified House GOP. Click

As the Chairman of the Small Business
Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Tax, and Capital Access, I hosted a
hearing today examining ways to promote innovation and competitiveness
through the tax code. I was pleased to welcome two witnesses from
Schuylkill County – Julie Masser Ballay, Vice President and Chief
Financial Officer, Sterman Masser, Inc. Potato Farms and Bill Wydra,
President, Ashland Technologies, Inc.
At a time when U.S. adversaries are
investing more and more in innovation, Congress must reflect on the
impact that removing incentives to innovation will have on our
nation’s job creators. The repeal of the R&D Tax Credit and the
sunsetting of bonus depreciation, coupled together, will have grave
consequences on American entrepreneurs. Congress must fight to protect
these vital provisions. We cannot continue to cede our competitive
advantage and risk falling behind dangerous adversaries on the world
stage. I thank our witnesses and business leaders from Schuylkill
County for attending today’s hearing and sharing their stories with
the Committee.
Preserving the value of the US
dollar is crucial to countering China and supporting America's small
businesses. My bill, the China Exchange Rate Transparency
Act, is a step towards addressing blatant Chinese currency
manipulation. Click

In just 30 months, the Biden
administration accumulated approximately $367 billion in regulatory
costs. These regulations are harming small businesses and hindering
growth in what is already a fragile economic climate. Click

I was pleased to introduce Darren Woods,
Chairman and CEO of ExxonMobil, at this week’s Problem Solvers Caucus
meeting. Mr. Woods shared updates about Exxon's operations and
discussed the importance of natural gas to American prosperity and
national security.

This week, I attended an event with Chris
Grollneck, one of the nation’s leading active shooter prevention
experts. He discussed several emerging technologies that can be
utilized within schools to help keep our kids safe. I was happy to be
joined by several officials from across the district, including
Bradford County Commissioner Doug McLinko, State Rep. Aaron Kaufer,
and State Rep. Mike Cabell.
I want to extend a big thank you to my
good friends the Pugh's, Brenda, Alan Sr, and Alan Jr, for organizing
and hosting this great event.
I was happy to participate in K&L
Gates’ Meet and Greet Speaker Series. I delivered an update to their
leadership on what I’m working on in Congress. Headquartered in
Pennsylvania, the firm has become one of the country’s leading law
practices representing various sectors important to the
Commonwealth.
IN NEWS YOU WON’T HEAR IN THE
MAINSTREAM MEDIA: The gaslighting on the border crisis from
the Biden administration is truly absurd.
Check out this recent insulting
spin from the White House:
The “fiasco” has been raging
for over TWO YEARS.
Biden’s “plan” created a humanitarian and
security crisis:
Is this Biden’s plan “working as
intended?” If so, his cruelty knows no bounds. It is only because Republican
governors are stepping up that the crisis is not even worse. The
Biden administration should be ashamed that they think this is
something to brag about.
Earlier this week, we recognized the
79th anniversary of D-Day; we remember and honor the brave
Americans who stormed the beaches of Normandy to defend our freedom
and liberate Europe. Let us never forget their courage and the great
sacrifices they made.
I was glad to speak at the RNC Northeast
Regional Leadership Conference in Drexel Hill on Thursday. I spoke
about the importance of keeping small businesses alive as they work to
survive the policies of the Biden administration.
Additionally, I was glad to see my
friend, State Representative Russ Diamond, at the conference.
I conducted an interview on WLBR 1270
this week. We discussed a bill I introduced to rename a post office in
Lebanon as the "Lieutenant William D. Lebo Post Office Building.” We
will not soon forget the great sacrifice Lt. Lebo made in the line of
duty to protect and serve our community. Click

We look forward to catching up with you
next week. God Bless, and see you soon,
Dan
