John,
In my home state of Missouri, Black people are almost 5 times more likely to be killed by police compared to white people. In the U.S., Black people die at 3 times the rate of white people during childbirth.
Horrific disparities like these, along with the growing Black-white wealth gap, are all products of our country’s legacy of enslaving and dehumanizing Black people.
To achieve justice and heal generations of trauma, we need reparations. So I introduced the Reparations Now Resolution, which recognizes the federal government’s responsibility to provide reparations for the enslavement of Africans, as well as for the harm our government continues to inflict on millions of Black people.
Please sign on today to become a grassroots co-sponsor of my Reparations Now Resolution.

I’m proud to have partnered with grassroots groups on this resolution. Other policies I’ve introduced to address anti-Black injustices include bills that would decriminalize drugs, invest in non-carceral public health alternatives to policing, address the trauma of generations of police violence, and invest in the resources Black communities need after centuries of exploitation and disinvestment.
Together, we will keep pushing for racial justice and Black liberation.
With love,
Cori Bush
