Simple tips for eating well
Choosing what food to eat shouldn't feel like an overwhelming task. For older adults, eating for health is often framed in a way that isolates nutrients that are good for bones, the heart, or the digestive system. The result is a list of foods that will provide those nutrients, but ignores the way nutrients work together. Our latest blog post offers tips for a simpler approach to eating healthy.

Administration's budget request recycles past efforts to cut senior programs
On Feb. 10, the Administration released its FY21 budget request. With a few exceptions, services and benefits for older adults are offered up for cuts or level funding. Falls Prevention, Chronic Disease Self-Management Education, and the Senior Community Service Employment Program are among those singled out for elimination. Preliminary estimates suggest the Administration's recommendations would cut Medicaid by approximately $900 billion over 10 years, and Medicare by $500 billion in the same time period. Many believe the vast majority of the cuts are unlikely to pass Congress, and we already plan to work with our allies in both parties to protect and invest in aging services.
