John,
How much do you spend on fruits and vegetables each month in your grocery bill?
Based on a subcommittee bill that’s already been approved, we expect that the House Appropriations Committee’s Republican members are planning to cut a $25 monthly WIC benefit for 1 to 4 year olds down to just $11 (a 56% cut). They plan to cut a $44 monthly fruit and vegetable benefit for pregnant and postpartum participants down to just $13 a month (a 70% cut).1
They’re demanding these dangerous cuts just one week after Speaker McCarthy agreed to terms with President Biden that narrowed the scope of the pain inflicted on families with low incomes. Now House extremists want to blow up this deal.
Spending bills are expected to start rolling out of committees this week. Rush a donation today to fight back against right-wing bills that severely cut funding for women, children, and vulnerable communities.

1 House Republicans’ Agriculture Appropriations Bill Would Cut WIC Benefits for 5 Million Participants, Put SNAP Benefits at Risk for 1 Million Older Adults

John,
On Friday, congressional Republicans released a right-wing tax bill that hands even more tax breaks to the wealthy and corporations. And, in the coming days, various House committees will be releasing spending bills. Initial indications are that they will seek much deeper cuts than Kevin McCarthy agreed to in his negotiations with President Biden.
For example, the House Appropriations Committee is considering a cut of more than 12% to WIC―the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children. This cut would result in fewer healthy fruits and vegetables for nearly 1.5 million pregnant, postpartum, or breastfeeding participants, and roughly 3.5 million children ages 1 to 4.1
Some congressional Republicans―led by the extreme right-wing Freedom Caucus―are already walking away from a deal that was signed by President Biden just one week ago. They want to further cut critical programs for families with low incomes even while they’re teeing up even more tax cuts for the wealthy.
Rush a donation right now to fight back against right-wing plans to gut services for low-income women, children, and vulnerable communities.
