[1]The Long Run PAC

My name is Elissa Slotkin, and I am running for the United States Senate in Michigan.

I’m going to lay out more on why I’m running, but if you’re ready to join our campaign to win this open seat in Michigan and protect the Senate majority, split a contribution between my campaign and the Long Run using this link.

Service is how I’ve spent my life: I spent my career protecting our homeland. After 9/11, I was recruited into the CIA and served three tours in Iraq alongside the U.S. military. I went on to serve under Presidents of both parties in the White House, and then at the Pentagon.

But what motivated me to first run for elected office was my mom. She was diagnosed with stage IV ovarian cancer in 2009 — and she didn’t have health insurance. She had let it lapse after the insurance companies had gouged her for years because she happened to have a pre-existing condition. She passed away in 2011, but that experience — of desperately trying to get her care at the same moment we were filling out bankruptcy paperwork — helped shape my decision to run for office.

These experiences have shaped my time, my priorities, my approach to my four years in the U.S. House, and continue to serve as my motivation to run for Senate.

My experience in public service impacts how I’ve run my campaigns. Before my first run in 2018, I made a decision to not accept any donations from corporate PACs, because I never wanted my constituents to question why I vote the way I do.

My campaign for the U.S. Senate will also refuse money from corporate PACs. Not a dime.

Some people might see it as a disadvantage, especially since Senate campaigns are notoriously expensive. But I know that we can win when we’re powered by real people, contributing what they can, when they can.

To be upfront: Winning this race is going to take a lot of resources. A crazy amount. When you’re running to win a seat in a swing state like Michigan, you can’t take anything for granted. That’s why I’m hoping you’ll be moved to support this campaign today.

I would be honored if you would join me and The Long Run today by splitting a contribution today. Every dollar really does add up.
