The US Supreme Court has just upheld a California law that protects
animals from the most inhumane conditions.

A female pig may only know one tiny cage for most of her life: a 7 by 2
foot enclosure where she is confined and artificially inseminated to keep
producing piglets. She may only get to see her offspring for two weeks
before they’re torn away.

But a California law has changed that, drastically increasing the minimum
space given not only to pigs but hens and veal calves too. What’s more, it
requires these standards to be met for animal products imported into the
state too.

The pork industry has fought this law with everything they’ve got, even
taking it to the US Supreme Court. But last week hope won: the Supreme
Court upheld California’s Bill and sided with animals over big ag!

The factory farming industry has succeeded for decades in persuading law
makers that its cruel practices are necessary to produce cheap food at
mass scale. But we know the real reason the industry has forced animals
into ever smaller, darker and more inhumane conditions: profit.

These new laws are a powerful reminder that better conditions for animals
are possible. Over 60% of Californians voted for these measures and
they’ve now been upheld by the highest court in the US.

This is our moment to seize. Together we can show governments across the
