Team, Attorney General Eric Holder had good news and bad news about our fight for fair maps and a strong democracy:
“The good news is that maps across the country are the fairest they've been in decades because of our work. The bad news is that a new wave of anti-democratic tactics has already begun.”

Our movement for fair maps helped secure what the New York Times called “the fairest House map of the last 40 years.” And last November, we helped elect Democracy Defenders in key states across the country, and we helped defeat dangerous election deniers.
But now, Republicans are seeking to secure unearned power by:
• Manipulating maps and suppressing voting rights ahead of the 2024 election
• Attempting to stack state courts with judges who they believe will enable their anti-democratic schemes
• Asking courts to roll back decisions upholding fair maps and protecting voting rights
• Advancing a fringe legal theory that would give GOP legislatures unchecked power over federal elections
• …and more
But we must remember that we are not powerless against the GOP’s efforts to undermine our democracy. That’s why A.G. Holder also said “We can and we are fighting back against cynical, partisan tactics like these. . . We need supporters like you to help us keep up the fight for fairness.”
The NDRC counts on this grassroots team to power our democracy-saving work. We know not everyone can give every time we ask, but if even just one out of every four people reading this message pitches in, it will go a long way.
Please, team: Will you be that one person?
