John, this is big news:
Yesterday, Summer, Mayor Ed Gainey, and EPA Assistant Administrator for Water Radhika Fox announced a $52 million loan to the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority.
These funds will directly help upgrade and replace aging water infrastructure so that every resident of Pittsburgh has access to clean, safe water — regardless of zip code.
Only a few months ago, we celebrated the replacement of 10,000 lead service pipes in Pittsburgh. Now, Summer, was proud to help deliver this funding to ensure clean and safe water for every single household and every one of our communities.
Summer is working to fight corporate polluters to ensure access to clean air and water and enact the bold, progressive change we need. If you're with us, can you please chip in $5 today to continue making progress to protect our environment and fight for our communities?
This is just the start of our work to deliver the change we need so communities in Western Pennsylvania can thrive — not just survive. Since she was officially sworn in as a member of Congress in January, Summer has…
→ Helped deliver a $20 million grant to advance transportation and innovation in the region.
→ Co-sponsored the Green New Deal for Health which would directly tackle the need for health care as a result of our environmental crises.
→ Partnered with Governor Josh Shapiro to launch a $150 million partnership to help improve access to STEM graduate education for students from underrepresented communities.
→ Introduced the Hazard Pay for Health Care Heroes Act to strengthen protections for health care workers during health emergencies or extreme weather disasters.
Whether it's delivering critical federal funding or advocating for legislation like Medicare for All and a Green New Deal, Summer is working for racial, economic, and environmental justice.
In solidarity,
Team Summer
