Lesko Protects Americans' Gas Stoves

I joined House Republicans at a press conference to discuss how President Biden has declared a war on gas stoves! Instead of prioritizing the real issues facing Americans, he wants to eliminate the majority of currently available gas stoves and cooktops from the market. That's why I introduced my Save Our Gas Stoves Act!

Lesko Investigates the CDC's Failures

In the House Energy and Commerce Committee's Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, I asked why Dr. Fauci advised a friend not to wear a mask when he told the public to do so and if we should look to other countries for how they handled the pandemic. We do not want to repeat mistakes from the COVID-19 pandemic moving forward. Watch my remarks below:

Lesko Introduces Bill to Commemorate the Semele Massacre

I introduced a resolution to commemorate the Semele Massacre of 1933 when the Iraqi armed forces brutally massacred an estimated 3,000 unarmed Assyrian men, women, and children. During this tragedy, Iraqi forces looted and destroyed over 60 Assyrian villages. The resolution also rejects any efforts to associate the U.S. Government with the denial of the Semele Massacre and encourages the education of the public to increase understanding of the massacre. I hope through bringing awareness to the atrocities of the Semele Massacre of 1933, we can prevent anything like this from happening ever again.

GET THE FACTS: President Biden's War on Gas Stoves

In February 2023, the Department of Energy (DOE) proposed an extreme regulation to eliminate nearly all gas stoves and gas cooktops currently on the market. The Department’s proposed rule sets requirements for gas stoves at the maximum technologically feasible or "max-tech" level. Based on the Department of Energy's own analysis and DOE’s own technical support report, 96% of the market share of gas stoves will not meet DOE’s new proposed rule. No gas ranges qualified under the proposed rule, and gas ranges represent nearly 90% of all of the gas stoves sold. What's more, the estimated savings to consumers under this proposed rule is just $21.89 over the next 14.5 years. That’s only $1.50 per year, or just 12 cents per month. The DOE is also ignoring the fact that natural gas is three and a half times cheaper than electricity, and families who utilize natural gas for their households save $1,068 per year. This is why I introduced my Save Our Gas Stoves Act, which protects consumer choice and blocks the Department of Energy's out-of-touch proposed rule. I am thankful for the bipartisan support this critical legislation has received, and I expect this legislation to pass out of the U.S. House soon.

Casework Highlight

A constituent contacted our district office after receiving a debt notice from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) that she believed was an error. Our caseworker contacted the VA and inquired about the issue. As a result, the VA completed a review of the constituent's benefits and corrected the error. The correction eliminated the debt owed to the VA, saving the constituent tens of thousands of dollars.
