The president released his budget today and it falls short for kids. Send a message to Congress asking them to have a heart and invest in kids!
Dear John -
The president released his annual budget today. Sadly, it falls far short of meeting the vital needs of children here in the U.S. and around the world.
Most alarmingly, the budget proposes big cuts to foreign assistance money that funds life-saving programs for the most vulnerable kids around the world.
Foreign aid is less than 1% of the overall federal budget, but these dollars are absolutely critical for vulnerable children like Amjad.* He’s been forced to flee several times due to bombings in his home country of Yemen. Tragically, he lost 2 family members due to the violence.
We can’t leave children like Amjad behind!
Please tell your members of Congress to reject the president’s budget cuts to foreign assistance programs and invest in kids.
The president’s budget also fails kids living in poverty here at home. Effective programs, like Head Start, reach just 31% of eligible children. And funding for high-quality child care programs is out of reach for more than 80% of eligible families.
Continuing to skimp on funding for these programs means more kids will enter school not fully prepared to learn. Many of them will never catch up.
These kids are counting on you and me to persuade Congress to invest in their futures. I know that your activism works because with the help of supporters like you we’ve been able to beat back cuts to life-saving foreign aid programs and boost funding for critical early learning programs before.
In honor of Valentine’s Day, all around the country Save the Children Action Network volunteers are creating valentines to deliver to members of Congress to urge them to have a heart and invest in kids.
Please tell your members of Congress to reject the president’s budget cuts to foreign assistance programs and invest in kids.
You can join them by sending a message to Congress today!
Thank you for being a voice for kids,
