Dear John,
Despite multiple indictments, Donald Trump is well on his way to once again winning the Republican nomination for president, and, frankly, that terrifies me.
We’ve already seen the deadly lengths that Trump is willing to go in his pursuit of power. His 2024 campaign has already proven to be more unhinged than his first two
But we don't just have to stand by and watch Donald Trump set our democracy on fire again — because Section 3 of the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution disqualifies any public official who has engaged in insurrection from ever holding public office again.
That’s right. As a result of the January 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, Donald Trump is disqualified from serving in any public office, including president. So if state election officials enforce the 14th Amendment, Trump’s campaign is over.
But the corporate media isn’t telling that story — and that’s why Inequality Media Civic Action has launched a public education campaign to explain why Trump should be disqualified and calling on state election officials to keep the insurrectionist Donald Trump off the ballot.
Will you donate to Inequality Media Civic Action to educate the public and call on election officials to apply the 14th Amendment and keep insurrectionist Donald Trump off the 2024 presidential ballot?
Adopted in the wake of the Civil War, the 14th Amendment explicitly prohibits elected officials who have engaged in insurrection from serving in public office again.
During the Reconstruction years, the 14th Amendment was routinely applied to keep former confederate officials off the ballot, even those who were never formally charged with crimes.
More recently, a New Mexico judge last year removed a county commissioner who participated in the January 6 insurrection from his elected position and banned him from seeking further public office.
Donald Trump should not be immune from the same consequences.
We all watched in horror when Trump tried to overturn the 2020 election and rallied a murderous mob to block its certification. Now, he’s poised to attack our democracy again and once again try to seize the White House by any means — whether by convincing state legislatures to throw out legally cast ballots, pressuring Congress to cast aside legitimate electors, or staging another violent attack.
In most states, filing deadlines for 2024 presidential candidates will come in the next six months. That’s why Inequality Media Civic Action is ramping up pressure on secretaries of state to fulfill their constitutional duty and refuse to put Trump on the ballot.
Inequality Media Civic Action is educating the public and pressuring state officials to keep Donald Trump off the 2024 ballot. Will you donate?
Thanks for joining with us in the fight for democracy,
