Thursday, a grand jury in Florida indicted Donald Trump after the Department of Justice conducted a lengthy investigation into his mishandling of classified documents.1 The now-unsealed indictments show 38 charges against Trump and his co-defendant.2
There is already plenty of evidence to show that Donald Trump is guilty. And it is long past time that he be held to account.
The unsealed indictments show that Trump is facing a range of serious charges, including willfully retaining national defense secrets in violation of the Espionage Act, conspiracy to obstruct justice, and making false statements to the federal government.3 If convicted, he could face many years behind bars.4 Will you sign the petition to demand that Donald Trump be convicted for his crimes against democracy?
Trump has been summoned to appear in federal court in Miami, Florida, on Tuesday afternoon, where he will formally be placed under arrest.5
Predictably, Trump and the MAGA movement are attacking the Department of Justice, spreading conspiracy theories about the investigation, and baselessly decrying the indictment as a "witch hunt."6 But we know the truth.
It is critical for the future of our democracy that Trump be held accountable for his actions. These juries cannot be allowed to treat him differently for the fact that he's rich, a former president, or a contender to be our future president.
He must be treated as if he is not above the law.
