Yesterday, Special Counsel Jack Smith unsealed the indictment against former President Donald Trump and we learned that Biden’s Department of Justice is charging Trump with 37 federal counts.

The American public is right to be concerned. It is unprecedented for a former President to be indicted. That this individual is also a leading presidential candidate for 2024 only adds to that concern.

Conservatives believe in Constitutional principles—due process and equal treatment under the law. Selective prosecution is a form of weaponized government and destructive to our country. The law should apply equally to Donald Trump, Joe Biden, or Hillary Clinton. All should be equal under the law.

The difference you make
The Heritage Action grassroots are effectively pushing back against the Left. Since the new year and the beginning of new legislative sessions, conservatives have been fighting on both the federal and the state levels to enact conservative policies.

We all sense that the status quo is not enough. Our country needs bold plans to shape its future, and conservatives have those plans.

Conservative engagement in politics makes a real difference in policy outcomes. Here are just a few examples.

Education Freedom

No two students are the same, and a one size fits all approach to education leaves many learners behind. Creating freedom for parents and students to access state funds that they can use to attend the school of their choice will help students choose the learning environment that best fits their needs.

This year, eight states <[link removed]> have enacted new education freedom policies or have expanded existing ones. This progress builds on the wave of education freedom bills that were passed in 2021 <[link removed]> and this momentum will continue in next year’s state legislative sessions.

Ten years ago, these policies wouldn’t have been given a second thought. But since the Covid-19 lockdowns parents have been clamoring for a change to the system and their constant engagement has moved the needle significantly. This is the power of community engagement and it is providing real and observable benefits. <[link removed]>

Creating a Culture of Life

Through vigilance and perseverance our country is slowly but surely coming into a culture of life. Less than a year after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade with its landmark Dobbs v. Jackson decision, half the states in the nation have laws that protect life beginning between conception and 12 weeks of gestation.

Without the decades long engagement of pro-life advocates, none of these wins would have been possible. Lives are being saved by the thousands as states with the most pro-life policies have seen a 96% drop in abortions! <[link removed]>

In Case you Missed it - a strategic win

Conservative pushback to recent Biden regulations were so overwhelming that the Biden administration was forced to delay the implementation of both rules. <[link removed]> When the grassroots display strength in numbers the radical Left has no choice but to retreat.

Biden proposed two changes to Title IX - a law designed to protect women from discrimination in educational institutions that receive federal funding.


- First rule change would have redefined “sex” to include “sexual orientation,” “gender stereotypes,” and other arbitrary terms. This would have allowed men into women only spaces including sports teams, locker rooms, bathrooms, and potentially even dorms.
- The second rule would have forced men into women’s sports teams unless they got special permission from the government to remain female-only teams.



By law, these rule changes were subject to a period of public comments before they could be implemented. In response, citizens across the country used Heritage Action’s comment portal to flood the Biden administration with over 38,000 comments - making up over 15% of all comments submitted!

The fight is not over, but grassroots efforts yielded a strategic win for the time being!
More Opportunities to Stop Regulations
Just as your comments were able to put Biden’s Title IX changes on hold, they can also put the brakes on Biden's newest set of regulations that would strangle American consumers’ ability to buy the car they want.

In 2022, 94% of all new cars sold were gas powered. Biden has directed the Environmental Protection Agency to claw that number down to 33% by 2032.

The effect would be devastating. It would:



- Make cars more expensive
- Hurt your ability to travel long distances
- Overwhelm our electrical infrastructure
- Boost investment in China instead of America

Conservatives have an opportunity to float like a Cadillac and sting like a Beamer in their fight against Biden’s overreach! Biden has no business telling American’s what they can and cannot drive.

Mayorkas needs to GO!
5 years ago, Republicans had the majority in both chambers of Congress yet were unable to pass meaningful legislation to secure the border and strengthen internal immigration enforcement. Fast forward to today and The Secure the Border Act (H.R. 2) <[link removed]>- the strongest piece of border legislation Congress has ever seen - has passed the House.

The concerns of the grassroots are making their way to Congress and now there is another opportunity to keep pushing elected representatives in the right direction. It’s time to impeach Secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas.

In Washington, it’s often said that “people are policy.” It’s very true, and Mayorkas has brought the wrong policies to the Department of Homeland Security!
The case for impeachment is strong and well documented <[link removed]>. Secretary Mayorkas has:


- Violated his oath of office by ignoring various statutes of federal immigrations law
- Abused his authority by improperly designating all people crossing the border as “refugees” as a way of gaming the system to let people in who legally should not be allowed to enter.
- Lied to Congress by withholding information and misleading the public to cover up the fallout of his terrible policies



When unelected bureaucrats go rogue, it is the responsibility of elected officials to rein them in.
