Dear Friend,
The legislature voted in support of funding four Maine Climate Corps leadership positions and 50 service members through the passage of LD 142: An Act to Fund Climate-related Service Work.
Next up: the bill will go before the Appropriations and Financial Affairs Committee to determine whether or not this powerful service learning program will be funded.
If funded, the exciting Maine Climate Corps program will mobilize citizens through formal volunteering and intense service to help build Maine’s workforce and curb climate change. A win-win for Maine!

Maine needs to add significant human resources to move climate action strategies forward. The greatest opportunity for engaging in this work with a large group of citizens representing all ages, abilities, and backgrounds lies with a Climate Corps.
Maine Climate Corps will:
Provide the human power to conduct climate projects on the ground throughout the state.
Help mitigate the negative effects of climate change.
Strengthen our state's communities and support historically marginalized populations facing the impacts of climate change.
Provide much-needed workforce development in the environmental and clean energy sectors
Thank you so much for standing with us to make an impact,
