Every month, operators from King County Metro’s seven transit bases select their fellow drivers for their positive contributions to Metro and recognize them as Operators of the Month. The operators selected demonstrate safe driving skills, show courteous and helpful attitudes toward customers, and pay conscientious attention to attendance, appearance, and discipline.
They are our “rolling ambassadors,” the kind, courteous and helpful smile that greets you every day when you ride with us. Outside of work, they enjoy listening to live music, traveling, astronomy, motorcycle drag racing and remote-control car racing!
They represent more than two centuries of experience behind the wheel. The operators who drive your bus are as unique as you, and all of them love driving and giving back to their community.
Meet your Operators of the Month for March and April 2023.
We love to hear from our riders about their operators! Please leave your comments about our drivers. Interested in becoming a transit operator? Visit “Start your Metro career” to explore well-paying positions with full benefits and a pension in transit operations, trades, rail operations, customer information and countless other fields.

Metro celebrates Pride Month 2023
Taken from Metro Matters blog written by Chris Bhang, Metro EEO Officer
Pride Month is a celebration of who you are, who you love, and being able to show up as your authentic self. We celebrate our Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual (LGBTQIA+) and Two-Spirit family, friends, and colleagues. We celebrate their courage and commitment in advancing civil rights and equity. We celebrate with bright colors and joy, recognizing these communities have long been forcibly erased from history and pressured to hide in society.
At Metro, we have made a commitment to confront behaviors that promote fear or intolerance and to embrace our equity compacts:
- Share power
- Interrupt business as usual
- Replace it with something better
- Get comfortable with being uncomfortable.
It is all our responsibility to make Metro a place where people feel welcomed, supported, and can be their best and authentic selves.
We invite you all to celebrate Pride, to celebrate love, and to celebrate the wonderful things that make us human.
And don’t forget to Ride with Pride!
