They say nothing changes in Texas politics, until it does.

...Likely, they will say we have been waiting for this moment for two years.

I say? That doesn’t give us nearly enough of the credit.

For two long years, we have been showing up every single day; so we grew harder to walk past.

For two long years, we have been speaking up; so we grew harder to ignore.

For two long years, we have been saying that no one should be above the law; and today they listened.

…Nothing changes in Texas politics, until it does.

But the events of this week likely mean a bigger fight is coming. The extreme right in Texas relies on hate all too often; groups like us are too often the targets.

We need to be ready. Will you chip in $5 today to keep our movement going strong? We’re fighting for Texas families because they deserve leaders our children can look up to. ([link removed])

I need to be honest with you. Technically, I don’t usually celebrate someone else’s misery. Learning that the FBI has moved forward and arrested Nate Paul, the Austin-based developer at the center of Ken Paxton’s impeachment — that isn’t normally something I would celebrate.

But — I do believe in justice.

It is now a very real possibility that Nate Paul will face very real world legal consequences for his despicable, very corrupt, and very illegal criminal behavior.

Honestly, assuming Nate Paul is guilty of the bribery and corruption charges presented during Ken Paxton's impeachment hearing, not to mention the bank fraud indictment he faces now — it really seems about damn time the FBI arrested him.

And the arrest of Nate Paul comes right on the heels of the indictment of former President Trump.

We now know that Trump has been federally charged for 37 crimes related to his mishandling of classified documents. As of today, two lying Republicans are facing criminal trials and will be held accountable in federal court.
The only thing that could be better than the outcomes of this week will be Attorney General Paxton being held accountable for his actions by more than impeachment.

To add some perspective on this, Bill Clinton was impeached. Ken Paxton needs to join Paul and Trump and be put in prison.

This week's turn of events, especially here in Texas, wouldn't have been possible without the support of activists like yourself. That phrase gets bandied around a lot in these political emails but in our case it is true.

We'd said that Mothers Against Greg Abbott would do what it takes to hold the Texas GOP accountable to Texas families. Thanks to donors like you, pitching in to help, we've been able to keep that promise to all of you — and today feels like proof.

But we need to be realistic about what lies ahead, and Texas watchdog groups like ours must be prepared.

Extreme groups rely on hate campaigns far too often. Scared people facing criminal charges with extremist tendencies...Those are not the kind of people who should be left in charge of a state government. And we must be ready to fight back.

Will you make a contribution of $5 today to help power our movement against Texas Republican extremism? ([link removed])

If you need any extra convincing before chipping in, please remember this: What we are doing here in Texas is working.
To impeach Ken Paxton, moderate Republicans banded with Texas Democrats and they did the right thing, together.

Now, we just need to build a lot more of that.

P.S. 10 months ago, I was inspired by former Texas House Speaker, Joe Strauss's memorable saying, Nothing changes in Texas politics, until it does, and it sparked one of the very first ads Mothers Against Greg Abbott produced.

And, I think the message really caught on 😉
In light of the breaking news today, we were again inspired by Strauss's words — and by our original ad and its rally cry — but we wanted to highlight some of this week’s events. That’s the .gif you see in the paragraphs above. It’s a limited release, special edition graphic, just for you. Because…things have changed here in Texas.
