John –

This week, I introduced legislation to block taxpayer funding for children’s hospitals that provide transgender treatments for minors. I also continued to fight back against the push from radical environmentalists to abolish reliable, affordable energy like natural gas.

As always, thank you for your support. Now, here’s your Campaign Brief:
TAXPAYERS SHOULD NOT FUND "TRANSGENDER CARE" FOR MINORS
“Gender affirming care” for minors is indistinguishable from child abuse, and it is quickly becoming the human rights issue of our time. There is no other human rights atrocity in America that is so quickly gaining momentum and validation within the very institutions that should know better. One of these institutions is children’s hospitals. In a place where “do no harm” is the ultimate guiding principle, there is no excuse to ever perform treatments that permanently alter a child’s physiology.

A lot of the action against this dangerous ideology has taken place at the state level, where strong governors like Greg Abbott have banned these “treatments” for minors. But there is also a role for Congress on this issue, and I’m taking the lead to ensure we are taking action in the House of Representatives to protect our kids.

Congress is getting ready to reauthorize the Children’s Hospital Graduate Medical Education Payment Program. This program provides taxpayer funding for our nation’s children’s hospitals and the money is used to help graduate medical education programs train physicians.

This is the perfect chance to take a stand and protect our children, which is why I am introducing legislation as part of this reauthorization to prohibit any taxpayer funding from going toward children’s hospitals that cater to the harmful pseudoscience that is “gender affirming care.” My bill ensures that no funding under this program will go to a children’s hospital if the institution provided “gender-affirming care” to an individual under 18 years of age.

My committee will hold a hearing on my bill next week, and I’ll be sure to provide you with an update following the hearing. I am committed to this fight because our children must be protected from this radical ideology that is sweeping the country.
DEBUNKING THE LIES FROM RADICAL ENVIRONMENTALISTS
This week, the Energy and Commerce Committee held a hearing on the latest effort from Joe Biden’s EPA to stifle reliable, affordable energy like natural gas and force unreliable renewables into the electricity market. Watch the clip above from the hearing to see my reaction to this rule and the broader climate narrative from radical environmentalists.

This latest rule from Biden’s EPA would impose aggressive carbon dioxide reduction rules for power plants—demanding that coal and natural gas plants immediately upend their entire operations with unproven technology to make these plants “cleaner.” The EPA says their goal with this rule is to reduce emissions, but in reality their goal is to reduce investment in building new natural gas plants, and rapidly transition the United States to an electric grid powered only with wind and solar. That is bad for everyone, especially considering American energy demand will increase by about 30% in the coming decades.

Here are the basic facts: we cannot rely on wind and solar for baseload power. We just can’t. We are already experiencing grid reliability issues and increased costs because reliable power (like natural gas) is being replaced by these unreliable renewables. This latest rule from the EPA will only make that problem worse.

Americans deserve to have reliable energy—they deserve to be able to heat their homes in the winter and have AC in the summer. And Americans deserve the truth when it comes to this issue—we can provide cheap, dependable energy while also reducing emissions with proven solutions like nuclear energy and natural gas that we can then export to the rest of the world. I will continue to speak the truth and debunk the lies from the left on this issue.
