Over the weekend, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Atlanta’s paper of record, published a shocking article about newly-appointed Senator Kelly Loeffler (R-GA). Here’s what they said:

[I]t is Loeffler’s big-city career in finance, mostly at the Atlanta-based owner of the New York Stock Exchange, that propelled her to the Senate – and into one of the trickiest ethical dilemmas in recent congressional history.

When she joined the Senate Agriculture Committee, Loeffler became an overseer of the overseers of the company that made her rich: Intercontinental Exchange, or ICE.

She’s supposed to oversee the company that made her rich?!

When we say Trump is a symptom of a broken system, this is exactly what we’re talking about (it’s no coincidence that so far, Loeffler has voted with Trump 100% of the time). Public officials should be accountable to the people they represent, not working to enact policies that will help their personal bottom lines.

Luckily, Kelly Loeffler is up for re-election this year, and we’re working hard on a plan to take back the Senate. That’s why today we’re adding Loeffler to our list of targets as part of our Payback Project. That means we’re now fighting to replace both of Georgia’s senators (along with eight other enemies of democracy) and elect progressive champions who want to represent the people.

We’re sending you this email first because as a supporter of the project and Indivisible, you should know that we’ve added Loeffler to the list. But we also want to use this as a moment to remind you what you can do to kick Loeffler and all the rest of our target senators out of office. Here’s our three asks:

  1. Visit the Payback Project website, where you can read more details about Loeffler’s conflicts of interest and all the other senators we’re focused on this year. And if you’re inspired, share the website with your friends.
  2. Text PAYBACK to 977-79 to receive breaking news updates and hear about ways you can take action in your community.
  3. Donate $10 to Indivisible Action. Grassroots donations are our largest single source of funding, which means all our work to take back the Senate (and everything else we’re working on this year!) is impossible without your support.
