Hello, Friends —

There are currently more than 1,000 unauthorized programs within the federal government. Last year alone, Congress spent $461 billion on unauthorized appropriations without oversight, congressional hearings, or reauthorization votes. And just last week, Congress passed the Biden/McCarthy debt ceiling bill, which failed to make meaningful spending reforms and will add another $4 trillion to our national debt. For far too long, the Swamp has tried to cover up its spending addiction, and the American taxpayer has been forced to foot the bill.

Earlier this year, I took a stand to end the era of the imperial Speakership and change the way the House of Representatives operates. As a result, Speaker McCarthy agreed to give House members more involvement in the legislative process so that Republicans could cut spending. It's only taken Speaker McCarthy four months to break the fundamental promises he made that ultimately allowed him to take the Speaker's gavel, as his debt limit deal with Joe Biden proved he doesn't take reckless spending seriously.

That's why on Tuesday, I, along with 11 other House conservatives, voted against this week's rule providing for votes on more messaging bills. Republican leadership failed to hold the line on the debt ceiling and, as a consequence, failed the American people. I refuse to play a role in this "failure theater" with establishment Republicans. Sometimes the only way things change in Washington, D.C., is by force. By holding the floor of the House, my conservative colleagues and I are sending a clear message to Speaker McCarthy that true conservatives will never surrender.

REP. GAETZ INTRODUCES RESOLUTION TO HOLD FORMER TRUMP PROSECUTOR IN CONTEMPT OF CONGRESS

On Tuesday, I introduced a resolution to hold Mark F. Pomerantz, a former Trump prosecutor, in contempt of Congress for failing to comply with a congressional subpoena. The resolution directs the Sergeant at Arms of the House of Representatives to summon him before Congress to hold him in contempt.

Last month, Mr. Pomerantz appeared under oath for a congressional deposition regarding the Manhattan District Attorney's Office's investigation of President Donald Trump after a federal judge told him "no one is above the law." Despite writing a tell-all book about his time in the DA's office, Mr. Pomerantz incorrectly pled the Fifth to nearly every question asked about his participation in the witch hunt. Through his lack of testimony, Mark Pomerantz has undoubtedly undermined the legitimacy of the indictment against President Trump and failed to comply with a congressional subpoena.

REP. GAETZ: WE MUST HOLD JANUARY 6TH COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN BENNIE THOMPSON ACCOUNTABLE

On Wednesday, I introduced a resolution to censure Rep. Bennie Thompson (MS-02), former Chairman of the January 6th Select Committee, for violating longstanding rules of the House of Representatives.

Investigations by the House Judiciary Committee have confirmed Rep. Thompson knowingly violated House rules by not turning over all the January 6th Select Committee’s records to the Clerk of the House at the end of the 117th Congress. Furthermore, Rep. Thompson sent a letter to the Biden White House and the Department of Homeland Security in which he implied critical congressional records related to the work of the January 6th Select Committee would be improperly stored at the White House in the possession of President Joe Biden. This is a flagrant violation of House rules for which Rep. Thompson must be held accountable.

REP. GAETZ AND REPUBLICANS REVOLT AGAINST SPEAKER MCCARTHY

On Wednesday, I joined "Morning in America" on NewsNation to discuss the rebellion my conservative colleagues and I are leading against Speaker McCarthy for targeting members of Congress who voted against his debt limit deal with Joe Biden. If there's one thing I've learned during my time in Congress, it's that the only way things change is by force. By holding the House floor, we're sending a clear message to leadership that we refuse to back down.

Time and again, members of Congress vote with the D.C. uniparty. I will continue to vote for the interests of American taxpayers and not those of the D.C. influence peddlers. I will not cease in demanding recissions, effective spending cuts, and a return to the normal budgeting process.

REP. GAETZ DESTROYS WHITE HOUSE PRESS SECRETARY ON NEWSMAX

Once again, we see the Biden administration resorting to the same tired tactics of deflection and evasion through the White House Press Secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre. On Wednesday night, I joined “Carl Higbie Frontline” on Newsmax to discuss her performances at the White House podium, which have been nothing short of disappointing. She consistently fails to provide substantive answers to important questions. It’s clear she is more interested in towing the party line and protecting the President than engaging in honest and transparent communication with the American people. We deserve a White House press secretary who values accountability and integrity over political maneuvering.

While the White House continues to hide the truth behind the Biden family’s corruption, House Republicans on the Oversight Committee are fighting to obtain the answers this administration is withholding. I fully support their work to uncover the truth, regardless of the partisan pushback. The American people deserve to know if any improprieties exist within the highest levels of power. House Republicans' efforts to expose the questionable financial dealings and ethical lapses of the Biden family are crucial in upholding transparency and holding public officials accountable.

House conservatives block GOP bills, voice frustration in response to last week’s debt ceiling vote

"'We’re frustrated with the way this place is operating,' said Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., one of the more outspoken members of the group. 'We’re not going to live in the era of the imperial speaker anymore.'"

Fox News — June 6, 2023

Gaetz to propose contempt of Congress against NYC prosecutor who lobbied for Trump indictment

"'He lobbied his way onto a prosecutorial team as a private lawyer. He did all he could to gaslight charges against Donald Trump. When the evidence didn't support those charges, he initially got miffed and quit the team and wrote a book about it,' Gaetz told Fox News Digital. 'Now, he has the nerve to assert his Fifth Amendment privilege over these matters when he has clearly explicitly and repeatedly waived that privilege. Contempt is proper where someone refuses to answer Congress's questions under a frivolous assertion.'"

BREAKING EXCLUSIVE: Matt Gaetz to introduce resolution to censure Bennie Thompson over mishandling of Jan 6 Committee files

"'It is the responsibility, Gaetz attests, under House rules, for a committee chairperson "to ensure proper recordkeeping by a committee." This, as evidenced by Thompson's own communications, Gaetz notes, was not done by Thompson in service to his role as Chair of the Select Committee on January 6. That responsibility, Gaetz states, 'Representative Thompson intentionally violated or recklessly neglected.'"
