Friends,
I hope you and your family are well! I wanted to provide you with a few updates regarding what’s going on –
Trump Indictment and a Two-Tiered Justice System
There shouldn’t be double standards in our justice system, but that’s exactly what we’re seeing with news of President Trump’s upcoming federal indictment for allegedly mishandling classified information. We know that the FBI has found numerous classified documents in Joe Biden’s possession from his time as a Senator and Vice President. Unlike President Trump, Biden had no authority to declassify these documents. So, when is Joe Biden going to be arrested? This isn’t just an attack on President Trump; this is an attack on the country. This is the full weaponization of governmental power by the deep state and will further erode trust and confidence in every aspect of our government. This cannot stand, and I will do everything in my power to fight back.
South Carolina’s Power Generation Future
Thank you Governor McMaster for inviting me to participate in the inaugural SC Energy Summit. Our energy policies will make the difference between a stagnant economy and economic prosperity. The stakes are high to get the policy right, and South Carolina must strengthen our natural gas pipeline infrastructure to support South Carolina’s Power Generation Future and meet our increasing energy demands. To support our continued development, it's important that we promote nuclear energy expansion, unleash all-of-the-above American energy production, and roll back federal overregulation inhibiting the energy sector.
Save Our Gas Stoves
I testified before the Rules Committee this week on the Save Our Gas Stoves Act and the Gas Stoves Protection and Freedom Act, bills that push back on the Biden Administration's authoritarianism over our appliances. Americans do not want the federal government to tell us how to live our lives, whether it’s the kind of car we drive or how we cook our food, and these bills are necessary to keep the EPA out of our kitchens. Click HERE for my remarks on these important bills.
USC Meeting on NIL
This week, I had the opportunity to meet with University of South Carolina Football Coach Shane Beamer and 2x National Championship Women’s Basketball Coach Dawn Staley, as well as 2x National Championship Baseball Coach, AD Ray Tanner to discuss the Name, Image, and Likeness issue in Colleges Athletics. Ensuring there is a national standard for NIL is an issue I am leading on in Congress, and I appreciate their support!
SPR Drained, Gas Furnaces Targeted
The White House drew on Strategic Petroleum Reserves for the 10th consecutive week, draining over 1.8 million barrels and bringing its balance to a 40-year low. Our strategic oil reserve is now at 353.57M, which is down from 355.44M last week and down from 526.59M one year ago.
Tensions are high with the CCP given their aggressive actions in the Taiwan Strait last weekend, yet the Administration keeps draining our SPR at the expense of our national security and energy security.
Meanwhile, as the Biden Administration is draining our strategic oil reserves, the Administration's overreaching climate agenda is now coming after Americans' gas furnaces, which restricts consumer choice and raises the cost of appliances for everyday Americans. This is insanity! Click HERE for more on this.
Legislative Action
I cosponsored H. Res. 464, Rep. Doug Lamborn’s resolution to acknowledge that unborn children in the womb are entitled to equal protection under the law. As Americans, we know "all men are created equal" and are "endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights," beginning with the right to LIFE.
In the District
The Fountain Inn Police Department earned accreditation from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Accreditation Council. Accreditation requires a rigorous evaluation of the policies, procedures, and operations of the department, including policy development, training programs, internal affairs procedures, evidence handling, and community relations. Michael Hamilton Chief of Police, said this accomplishment “demonstrates the amazing dedication and commitment to excellence that the men and women of the Fountain Inn Police Department work toward each day serving the community.”
The City of Newberry recognized Academic All-Stars at the Newberry Opera House for Academic All-Star Night at the Newberry Opera House. Students from Gallman, Boundary, Newberry, and Reuben elementary schools, as well as Newberry Academy, were recognized for being on the honor during the academic year.
Remembering the Heroes of D-Day
This week marked 79 days since the D-Day invasion. On June 6, 1944, some 156,000 Allied soldiers invaded the beaches of Normandy as part of Operation Overlord, and thousands of brave Americans gave their lives to defend freedom. This fateful day was a turning point for the Allied troops, and D-Day is now referred to as the beginning of the end of World War II.
General Dwight D. Eisenhower wrote these words to the troops before the D-Day invasion: “The eyes of the world are upon you. The hopes and prayers of liberty-loving people everywhere march with you. … Your task will not be an easy one. Your enemy is well trained, well equipped, and battle-hardened. …The tide has turned. The free men of the world are marching together to victory. I have full confidence in your courage, devotion to duty, and skill in battle. We will accept nothing less than full victory. Good Luck! And let us all beseech the blessing of Almighty God upon this great and noble undertaking.”
It is an honor to serve the Third District of South Carolina. Should you or your family need assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact my office directly.
