Howdy Texans –

I’ve been in Washington this week fighting for Texas values. I wanted to take a moment to update you on my work in our community and Congress.

ON THE DOCKET:

  • CACI Tour
  • Clean Water Solutions
  • Meeting with Texas Energy Leaders
  • Constituent Services

THE BRIEF:

  • A Border Patrol K-9 helped agents sniff out $2 million worth of smuggled fentanyl during a traffic stop. The narcotics totaled more than 192 pounds, enough to kill 48 million people.
  • Nearly 20 million American households are behind on their utility bills.
  • Texas has officially become the latest state to ban gender transitioning treatment for minors, including puberty blockers and sex change surgeries.

CACI TOUR

I had an excellent visit with CACI, a company devoted to providing innovative technology in support of national defense. During my visit, I saw their products firsthand. Making sure our service members have the most advanced technology to fight war and stay safe is one of my top priorities as a member of the Defense Appropriations Committee.

CLEAN WATER SOLUTIONS

I met with the founder of RussKap, Yehuda Kaploun, to discuss their system that turns the humidity in air into drinkable water. Yehuda briefed me on potential applications for both our service members on the battlefield and civilian emergencies. Having access to clean water is a necessity, but in a national emergency or at war, it can become scarce. It was interesting to hear about how this new technology works to solve the problem of water scarcity.

MEETING WITH TEXAS ENERGY LEADERS

I met with Texans for Energy Innovation to discuss energy strategies across the great state of Texas. I have long supported an all of the above energy approach that ensures Texans, and the entire nation, has reliable energy. This approach allows us to provide for future needs, while making sure we provide for today.
