Madeleine Dean for Congress

This month marks the first anniversary since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.

And since then, we’ve seen draconian restrictions in statehouses across the country — circumstances that were once written off as alarmist are now the reality in places like Texas where women are being denied life-saving surgeries, or in Ohio where a 10-year-old girl had to flee the state for an abortion after she was raped by an adult family member.

If there were ever a doubt as to whether further restrictions might come forth, that should be gone now.

Women and girls in America today have fewer rights than they did just one year ago — I find that frightening, but with three granddaughters and three daughters-in-law, I can’t let it dishearten me. The danger of this moment must move us all to action.

The stakes are astronomical — and we must do all we can to fight back against the extreme right’s assault on our bodily autonomy. Sadly, it only gets more dangerous the longer the GOP is in the majority — add your name and stand with me to protect abortion rights now.
