John, massive wildfires in Alberta, Canada brought early-season smoke to the West last month. And this week, fires in Québec, Canada brought smoke season — with its eerie orange skies — to the East, where millions of people breathed unhealthy air. 

This can’t be our new normal. That’s why we’ve set a goal to raise $500,000 from our online community this summer. Thanks to a $2-for-$1 match from two long-time EDF donors, your donation will triple your power to build a safer climate future and help us unlock $1 million in matching funds.

Wildfire smoke has been linked to a range of negative health outcomes — like asthma, increased rates of heart attacks and even death. Children, pregnant people, and those with heart disease or respiratory conditions are especially vulnerable to wildfire smoke.

Climate change is making wildfires and the resulting smoke more severe and widespread. We must take meaningful climate action now to protect our health and communities.
