Brace yourself for a disturbing revelation: 70% of American adults, ages 22-37, say they are likely to vote for a socialist in the 2020 elections.

That shocking statistic comes from a survey released by the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation. According to the survey, the percentage of the millennial generation who said they are "extremely likely" to vote for a socialist candidate has doubled between 2018 and 2019.

That would explain this additional finding from the VOC poll: Only 57% of millennials believe the Declaration of Independence "guarantees freedom and equality" better than The Communist Manifesto.

You read that right – The Communist Manifesto written by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels.

This breaks my heart to think that so many of our young Americans have been hoodwinked into embracing the political and social system that has given the world such ruined nations as Cuba, North Korea, Vietnam, and Venezuela as well as former failed regimes in Russia, Poland, Hungary, and Croatia.

Bigger government is not the answer for what ails America. God is! The same God in whom our Founding Fathers put their trust.

There is a painting that hangs on a wall at AFA. It sends chills down my spine. A tall man is kneeling in the snow, head bowed, praying. It’s a scene that really happened during one of the most desperate moments in our nation’s early history. The man’s horse stands behind him, its breath turning to vapor in the frigid temperature.

Of course, the man is General George Washington, and the painting depicts the winter encampment of the Continental Army at Valley Forge during 1777­‑78.

As we know, a ragtag army of farmers, hunters, and fishermen prevailed over the greatest army in the world. In my mind, of all the heroes and heroines in our nation's storied history, no one is greater than Washington.

The hero of the Revolutionary War and the first president of our Republic, George Washington represented the genius, strength, and character of a generation that changed the world and altered the course of human history.
