Fellow Democrats, the GOP thinks they have a shot at winning ground back in Illinois, and they’re putting considerable resources behind it.

Last Friday — the day after Congress finally passed legislation to avert a debt default — House Speaker Kevin McCarthy came to Illinois as the keynote speaker for the Lake County GOP’s fundraiser.

The IL and Lake County GOP chose McCarthy, knowing that he would be an event and fundraising draw, despite his shameless antics to hold our economy hostage for a political win. By all accounts, the event was a huge success, raising in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.
