We’re sick and tired of the richest millionaires and billionaires across the country who use their money and connections to trade stocks and make investments based on information not yet available to the public.
Just last month, ahead of the final passage of the debt ceiling bill, a Wall Street trader earned $7.5 million on an investment in a project approved in the bill by investing before it was publicly known that the project would be included. The mystery trader made the investment just days before the bill was passed — and it looks a lot like insider trading to us.
Over the years, it’s also become clear that Members of Congress have used their access to confidential information to trade stocks and turn a profit. That’s why it’s so important that we pass legislation that bans Members of Congress from trading stocks.
