Hello and happy Friday!
An interesting week here in DC…let’s dive into it.
It was supposed to be gas stoves week - but the rules vote failed on the floor. A rule failing on the floor is very rare. The last time this happened was back in 2002.
Tuesday was the anniversary of D-Day. On June 6, 1944, Allied Forces launched an invasion at Normandy during WWII to liberate Europe. It signaled a turning point in the war and stands witness to the bravery of those who fought for freedom.
Big win for the Oversight Committee! We joined Fox News this week to discuss FBI Director Christopher Wray finally providing the FD-1023 document after weeks of refusing to even admit it exists. Now the FBI has caved and allowed all Oversight and Accountability Committee members to review the unclassified record, which memorializes a source's conversations with a foreign national who claimed to have bribed then Vice-President Joe Biden. Watch here.
We attended the Oversight Subcommittee on National Security, the Border, and Foreign Affairs hearing about the law enforcement staffing challenges at our southern border. Our witness, Joseph Cuffari stated morale within the staff has been at an all-time low. Watch more here.
Our office welcomed lots of guests this week - including the Charleston Home Builders Association. We discussed their work in South Carolina and how we can work together to promote policies which support the homebuilding industry.
Thursday was World Oceans Day. On this day, we celebrate our one ocean and our one future together. It is imperative we take care of our precious oceans. Let’s all practice sustainability and promote positive contributions to the well-being of the ocean.
We have announced the winner of SC-01’s Congressional Art Competition! Look below for more information and the runners-up.
Our office has recently started a new series called “Sunday Sunsets.” If you live in the district and want to show off your beautiful sunset picture, drop it here.
As you all may know, when we aren’t in DC, we are hosting one of our Lowcountry events such as Coffee or Cocktails With Your Congresswoman. To stay in the loop on when we hold our events, stay subscribed to our newsletter and follow our Eventbrite page!
We are always here to assist you with any issues or concerns. Please feel free to reach out to us.
It is an honor to serve each and every one of you.
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
