John,
I want to take this opportunity to recognize the work of a great colleague of mine, Senator Tom Carper, who recently announced his retirement after nearly 50 years of service. I want to highlight some of the great things he accomplished for Delaware during that time.

Senator Tom Carper has been a dedicated advocate for Delaware, always putting the interests of its residents first. He has achieved a lot for our state, focusing on progress and positive change.
When he became State Treasurer in 1977, he wisely managed the state's finances, ensuring responsible use of taxpayer money. As Governor of Delaware, beginning in 1993, he made significant improvements in finance, healthcare, and education, investing in a better future for Delaware.
Continuing his dedication to Delaware's progress, Tom Carper became a Senator in 2001, where he focused on enhancing transportation and infrastructure, protecting the environment, and making healthcare accessible and affordable for all.
Senator Tom Carper has rightfully earned his place as a respected and influential figure in Delaware politics. His upcoming retirement marks the end of an exceptional career, making him one of the most accomplished politicians in the state's history.
As Senator Tom Carper retires, I want us to show our gratitude for all the progress he has brought to Delaware. His leadership and hard work have made a real impact on our state. John, help me sign this card and send our best wishes as he moves on to new endeavors.
