Dear John,
I don't know about you, but the beginning of 2020 really knocked the wind out of me. True, we certainly expected an acquittal in the Senate, but it still stung. And then the hits just kept coming. The Iowa debacle. The emoluments lawsuit. Neo Nazis marching in the streets in Washington D.C. And on and on. The daily barrage on our sense of decency is almost too much.
One thing that is clear is that it's up to us now. All hope is not lost. I remember how deep we dug for the 2018 midterms, and we pulled it off. I know we can rally the troops and do it again.
In that vein, our guest speaker this Sunday will be Yoni Landau, the founder of Resistance Labs (formerly Rapid Resist). He'll be speaking with us via Skype about the effectiveness of texting, their strategy, upcoming campaigns, and more. It's an incredibly easy way to affect races large and small in different parts of the country and I'm excited to get people involved.
Stand Up SF February Meeting
When: Sunday, February 16, 2020 2:00 PM, PST
Where: Noe Valley library, 451 Jersey St.
Will you be attending?
Our next three meetings with our Members of Congress are also on the calendar, you can sign up to join us here.
Another campaign I'm very excited about is the Payback Project, organized by Indivisible. The name is genius. We'll be targeting 9 Senators in shaky seats by texting to recruit volunteers in those communities. Again, super easy and effective. Of course they take donations if you're tech-phobic! The next training webinar is on Thursday the 20th at 8 p.m.
Wednesday the 12th will be another great opportunity to register new voters in Oakland. It's always a good time, and morning and afternoon shifts are available. Highly recommend.
Hope to see you soon. I'm so glad we're on the same team.
Best regards,
Shannon
