In 2021, Lashrecse Aird was named the Virginia Education Association Legislator of the Year because of her leadership in addressing critical issues in the state. In this video, she describes her fight for educational programs and funding for at-risk students.

Her colleagues didn’t believe the educational program deserved funding – and if she hadn’t been in the room where that important decision was being made, they likely would have voted against it. But because she was there, and because she had benefited from the very program they were debating, she could draw from her personal experiences and fight for her community.

Meanwhile, as highlighted in this video, her “Democratic” primary opponent, Joe Morrissey (the incumbent for this seat who has spent time in jail for having a relationship with his 17-year-old employee), has stated: “I’m proud to vote pro-life and I will side with Republicans in the future on this issue.”

Here’s why that sentence ^ poses a threat to millions of women across America: Virginia will soon be the last state in the South with abortion access. That means women from across the country will look to Virginia as a safe haven state for procedures that could truly save their lives. But only TWO votes stand between the GOP Governor of Virginia and a total abortion ban. Morrissey has made it clear that he will side with Republicans when it comes to reproductive rights. We must ensure he loses on June 20 – and Lashrecse Aird is running a STRONG campaign to do just that.
