Wildfires — and climate change — don’t care about international borders.

John,

Summertime is meant to be the time to spend your days outside, enjoying the good weather.

So far, that’s not in the forecast for millions in the U.S.

That’s because smoke from Canadian wildfires is coming across the border, blanketing the northeast in a haze of smoke. The smoke has been so extreme that cities like Philadelphia, Washington D.C., and New York have had hazardous air quality alerts for days on end. This week, the U.S. broke the record for worst wildfire smoke air quality since we started keeping records.

There’s only one place to point the blame for this catastrophic, record-breaking air quality, John. And that's climate change.

Canada has been experiencing wildfires for weeks on end, causing hundreds of people to abandon their homes. We know why this is happening. The accelerating impacts of climate change — such as drier, hotter conditions — have created a perfect storm for wildfires. More and more, the property, health, and safety of *everyone* is at significant risk — even thousands of miles away from the blazes.

We must demand action now. Allowing climate change-induced wildfires to continue unchecked is an international disaster.

John, climate change and increased wildfires are not going away unless we step up immediately to fight climate change and transition to cleaner, green energy. Will you pitch in to help our SEEC members of Congress as they work to undo the damage? »
