There’s no better way to kick off summer than with a beautiful, colorful celebration of Pride on the Chesapeake Bay!

Throughout my life, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing decades of truly remarkable progress made by LGBTQ activists. The Maryland of today is a more accepting, more equal, more compassionate place than the Maryland where I was born, and that’s something worth celebrating.

We can’t ignore the fact that things aren’t all sunshine and rainbows, though. LGBTQ Americans face a real threat from political extremists who want nothing more than to drag us backwards.

So I want to make you a promise: In the Senate, I’ll faithfully defend the rights of all people to love who they love and to be who they are. I’ll be a reliable ally in the fight against bigotry, and a reliable vote in favor of freedom and equality for all.
