 Donald Trump has been indicted on SEVEN charges relating to the classified documents case.

The DOJ indicted the former president, a lifelong criminal, on seven federal charges, including violating the Espionage Act, false statements, and conspiracy to obstruct.
This is not the only case Trump still faces. This federal case, now to be held in Miami, is about what he did after his time as President. But the Georgia case is about his attempts to interfere with the 2020 election and intimidate the Secretary of State. In New York, he is facing 34 counts of falsifying business records.
Meanwhile, several members of the MAGA-GOP, including Speaker McCarthy, have publicly denounced the charges. Jim Jordan, Matt Gaetz, Marjorie Greene, and others of the "law and order" party have since tweeted about the news and claimed innocence for the former President. The GOP has falsely claimed that the indictment comes at the behest of President Biden; however, the Justice Department acts independently of the President.
Trump has stood defiantly in his claims that he had the "right" to have classified documents, even without going through the proper declassification process. However, a breaking CNN report from this morning revealed a transcript of a 2021 recording of Trump saying things like:
“As president, I could have declassified, but now I can’t[.]”
"Except it is like, highly confidential. Secret. This is secret information. Look, look at this.”
This goes directly against his claims that he had any right to these documents and that he was able to declassify them without any process. Donald Trump broke the law willingly and boldly because he did not expect to be held accountable. He possesses no concern for our national security or our process of the law.
Donald Trump is the first President to be charged with federal and state crimes and twice impeached. Trump is expected to surrender himself on Tuesday to federal authorities in Miami.
