Trump posts bonkers meltdown in response to federal indictment
The disgraced ex-president, who has spent his entire adult life abusing the rule of law and acting with rampant, unchecked impunity, has FINALLY been federally indicted for willfully and illegally hoarding sensitive national security documents, and the third-rate grifter just 👏 can't 👏 believe 👏 it. In a rambling, incoherent video posted on Truth Social, a discombobulated Trump railed against the Department of Justice, America's "woke military," deep-state election interference, and claimed America is "going to hell" while referring to himself in the third person. Very stable genius, indeed!

VIDEO OF THE DAY: Mike Pence suffers painful humiliation live on stage
The former vice president and sentient sleep aid offered up a head-spinning defense of Donald Trump so tortured, George W. Bush looked at it and got jealous.

There are ZERO federal limits on how much climate pollution power plants can put in the air
Evergreen Action: You read that right. 0. Not even a single limit. But the Biden admin has proposed new rules that could cut power plant climate pollution by 90%! If you're tired of Big Oil spewing as much dirty smoke as they please, click HERE to tell the EPA to adopt the strongest possible rules and keep our air clean!
In surprise ruling, Supreme Court upholds ban on racial gerrymandering
Folks. Justices Roberts and Kavanaugh picked the right time to have a broken clock moment. We cannot overstate what a huge win this is for democracy, racial equity, and equal representation. And if you're into politics — and we think you are — consider this: had this ruling been in effect last year, it alone could have been enough to keep Democrats in the majority. Game on, 2024.
Take Action: Demand Congress oppose union busting and pass the PRO Act!
McConnell says military is "radically underfunded" in debt limit law, hardening standoff with McCarthy
The GOP is fracturing at all levels as Kevin McCarthy wages war with his own caucus and the Senate GOP, ironically over...war. Mitch McConnell is already trying to maneuver around spending caps Congress voted into law literally last week — because the $886 BILLION allotted for the Pentagon next year apparently is just not enough — while McCarthy, held hostage by radical right-wing members of his own clown caucus, has boxed Republicans in with hard, across-the-board spending caps. Oh, schadenfreude!

FBI agent who testified for Republicans suspended over leaking sensitive information
Turns out Jim Jordan's ace-in-the-hole whistleblower lied to the House Oversight Committee and is now being referred to Merrick Garland for investigation. Excellent work, Jim. Just a bang-up job. The only person your pointless witch-hunt has nabbed so far is YOUR OWN STAR WITNESS.

Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson discloses $1,200 floral gift from Oprah
Hmmm. No tuition for kids, no trips to Italy, no statues of her eighth-grade teacher. Just...some really nice flowers. And how about you, Justice Thomas? Anything to report? No? Oh, what's that, you needed an extension? Can't wait to see what kind of preposterous luxuries you have to report this year from your sugar daddy.

NY GOP congressman says it's too soon to talk about climate change as his state grapples with the worst air quality in the world
Our bloodshot, smoke-filled eyes are rolling in the backs of our polluted heads.
Republicans set to push mail ballots, voting methods they previously blasted as recipes for fraud
Wait, what!? We thought mail-in ballots were an existential threat to democracy. You mean ballot harvesting isn't a problem after all? You're telling us your nationwide assault on mail-in ballots was just a disingenuous ploy to placate wild conspiracy theorists and undermine Americans' faith in the electoral process for short-term political gain? Shocking!
House Republicans finally get their FBI document, which just so happens to say exactly what they want it to
Rep. James Comer's threats of holding FBI Director Christopher Wray in contempt finally got him his Big Secret Biden Document, which turned out to be a confidential informant report accusing the president of having been offered a $5 million bribe. House Republicans call the accusations "credible" and "legitimate," while the FBI — which already investigated the accusation in 2020 — says it "wasn't substantiated." So who do YOU believe?
Elon Musk is the most dangerous antisemite in America
The Twitter CEO has casually begun amplifying antisemites and antisemitic rhetoric on Twitter, seemingly engaging with anyone with something bad to say about Jews. “This isn’t just endorsement by omission. He’s positively, unapologetically engaging with the sort of rhetoric that’s written multiple blank checks for genocide in the past," says far-right researcher Sarah Hightower.

But wait, there's (always) more!

Today’s Action: Support the Writers Guild of America strike!
The writers of all our favorite TV and streaming shows are STILL on strike, and for very good reason. While the advent of streaming has unleashed a torrent of wonderful, high-quality entertainment, it has proven financially calamitous for writers, who have found themselves working for less and less pay year after year. Adjusted for inflation, writer pay has dropped 14% over the past five years! On top of that, their jobs (and the future quality of our favorite shows) are being threatened by the looming specter of AI-generated content and the hunger of big corporations to cut every single job they possibly can to maximize profits.
The companies' behavior has created a gig economy inside a union work force, and their immovable stance in this negotiation has betrayed a commitment to further devaluing the profession of writing, the Writers Guild of America said in a statement.
CEO compensation last year averaged roughly $32 million at the industry’s 12 major media companies. It's obvious these juggernauts can afford to properly compensate their writers. If they won't, then writers should continue to strike until they receive a fair contract.
Support striking WGA writers by donating your time and/or money! You can write letters of support, donate to the Snacklist (which delivers food and coffee to striking writers), share their demands online using the WGA social media toolkit (#WGAstrong, #WGAstrike), or — if you’re in LA or New York City — join them on the frontlines!
